Narcotics criminal who had been on the run for 12 years after jumping parole, apprehended by the Vadodara Crime Branch

The Vadodara crime branch apprehended a 12-year-on-the-run narcotics criminal who had jumped parole in 2009. He was transferred to the Vadodara Central Jail to complete his sentence.

The Narcotics Bureau of Ahmedabad discovered 372 kilograms of charas in a godown in Darda Nagar Haveli in 2002. Bankim Shah, a Mumbai resident, owns the godown.

A case got filed against Shah, and the special Sessions Court in Dadra Nagar Haveli sentenced him to 14 years in prison and a fine of Rs. 2 lakh. He was transferred to Vadodara Central Jail in 2005 and has been there since.

Bankim Shah was freed on 20-day parole on February 25, 2009, and was due under custody on March 21, 2009. However, he violated his parole, and a case was filed in Raopura police station under Personal Act 51, declaring him wanted by the authorities.

Furthermore, the Crime Branch Team, with the help of various resources, learned that the accused had been living at several locations and is currently in Bhavnagar.

The police arrived in the city and apprehended Bankim Shah after maintaining a lookout in various locations. To avoid arrest, he used to move about Mumbai. He was arrested and taken to jail to serve out the rest of his sentence.
