Its almost a month left to Navratri, a popular festival of Gujarat; but there are no specific guidelines or notifications released by the Government of Gujarat yet.
Garba organizers across Gujarat find it almost impossible to execute the Garba within the short period of time, but even if the festival is allowed to celebrate with social distancing norm, it will be inconvenient to adhere to the guidelines even with a limited audience.
United Way of Baroda which organizes the Garba event as an annual fundraiser attracts more than 50,000 audience, but this year they have decided not to organize Garba even if guidelines are announced with the entry of limited players.
The Chair RDC of United Way of Baroda, Hemant Shah, said that, “United Way of Baroda is organizing garba since last three decades. For us, the health and safety of our players is our topmost priority and it is impossible to play Garba with social distancing.” Shah also added that “As per medical science it is not advisable to do physical exercise with masks”
Due to the Corona pandemic, all festivals called for a low-key celebration. Few days back Gujarat Deputy CM Nitin Patel said “The Gujarat government is considering to give maximum possible relaxation for the annual festival of Navratri, within the limits of the Covid-19 guidelines issued by the Supreme Court, the Gujarat High Court and the Centre, said Deputy Chief Minister Nitin Patel on Thursday.”
