New expansion plan for rural areas will increase the number of COVID hospitals and beds

In a video conference held by Vadodara District Collector, Shalini Agarwal with Taluka Health and Medical Officers, she gave detailed guidance on increasing the number of beds in recognized COVID hospitals and COVID Care centers. This is done to make the treatment available for the patients in the rural areas, so they do not have to be brought to Vadodara.

Chief District Health Officer Dr. Uday Tilawat said this plan will increase the facility and capacity of the COVID treatment which will be completed by the end of September.

At present, there are four existing COVID Care Centers in Vadodara, Dabhoi, Padra, and Savli talukas of the district with a bed capacity of 120 each.

As per the instructions, new COVID Care Centres one each in Karjan, Shinor, and Savli, will be started and the number will increase to 7.

The district currently has a combined care center with 60 beds in Vadodara taluka, 20 in Dabhoi, 15 in Padra, and 25 in Savli for a total of 120 beds.

Under the new plan, bed capacity will be increased by 40 in Vadodara taluka and new centers will consist of 30 in Karjan, 80 in Dabhoi, 15 in Padra, 30 in Shinor, and 75 in Savli. Thus, with the availability of 390 (120 + 270) beds in 7 COVID Care Centers in rural areas, the facilities will increase in rural areas.

At present, there are 2 recognized hospitals in Vadodara taluka, 2 in Karjan, 1 in Dabhoi, and 3 in Padra for the treatment of COVID patients in the rural areas of the district. The total bed capacity of 200 beds consists of 42 beds in Vadodara taluka, 68 in Karjan, 20 in Dabhoi, and 70 in Padra is there in accredited hospitals.

Under the expansion plan, 2 new hospitals in Vadodara taluka, will be added to the existing ones. With these seven hospitals, the number reaches 15 in the district. With the increase in bed capacity of recognized hospitals to 60 in Vadodara taluka, 26 in Karjan, 22 in Dabhoi, 55 in Padra, and 30 in Shinor, a total of 393 (200 + 193) beds will be available for treatment.
