Nitin Gadkari, Union Minister for Road Transport and Highways, laid the foundation stone for the Delhi-Vadodara-Mumbai Expressway on Friday.
The expressway is going to be 1320 km long and going to be developed at the projected cost of Rs 90,000crore by the year 2022.
The Delhi-Vadodara expressway is being built in 5 phases and bids have been invited for all these phases.
The expressway is expected to help to lessen the traffic on the busy Delhi-Mumbai national corridor or NH-8 and reduce the distance between the two cities by about 150 km.
It will also reduce the distance between the capital and important cities like Kota, Bhopal, and Indore by about 100 km, an official notification claimed.
