Not a single bird flu case has been registered in Vadodara city and district

No cases of suspected bird deaths are reported in the Vadodara city district. Animal Husbandry Department has been maintaining intensive surveillance. It has been done in coordination with the Forest Department and private poultry farms.

The Animal Husbandry Department has conducted intensive surveys in the city and district for precautionary measures against the potential risk of bird flu or avian flu, and wetlands like Wadhwana, where thousands of native and exotic birds are currently present. The Forest Department is assisting them in this activity.

Dr. Prakash Darji, District Deputy Director of Animal Husbandry said that fortunately no incidents of suspected bird deaths have been reported in Vadodara City or district at present. Regarding this, the department is maintaining a thorough vigilance.

He said that in collaboration with the Forest Department, the Animal Husbandry Department has coordinated with organizations like Poultry Farms with the help of its staff to monitor the lakes known as bird sanctuaries and requested them to immediately report in case of any suspected illness/death of birds.

In a state-level laboratory which is situated in Ahmedabad, cases like a large number of bird deaths are being tested. The help of Bhopal High-Security Animal Disease Lab is also being sought for more intensive investigation.

Recently, when a large number of crows died in Manavadar, a lab test at Ahmedabad found food poisoning to be responsible. He gave interesting information that for the detection of bird flu in birds, the RTPCR through which the corona is tested is used by the doctors.

As a precautionary measure, Dr. Darji has requested the Veterinary dispensary at Bhutdi Zampa in Vadodara or the government veterinary dispensaries at the taluka and village level to report any large number of suspected bird deaths in any place in the city district.
