Over 92,000 participants will run together to celebrate Vadodara’s heritage marathon 

The event of 8th January, 2023 will be a grand event for Vadodara and the sponsor companies are gearing up for the 10th edition of the International Marathon.  But this time the marathon is different because the focus is on the heritage. It will also include the celebration of most of the heritage sites of the city. 

Participants from national and international level are going to participate.CM Bhupendra Patel will inaugurate the marathon tomorrow (8th January), Sunday at 7.30 am from Navlakhi ground in the city. He will be accompanied by Minister of State for Home Affairs Harsh Sanghavi. They will flag off the scheduled run at 5 am. The Chief Minister will flag off Jawan Run, Swachhta Run, Sankalp Run and Fun Run. As an accomplished half marathoner, Harsh Sanghvi has agreed to run the 5 km race.

MGVM 2023 is also a Paralympic Run with 1600 registrations, out of which 20 are prosthetic leg athletes who will help motivate other runners. More than 92,000 runners have registered for the 10th edition of MGVM. They will participate in full marathon, half marathon, marathon relay, 10 km run and 5 km fun run along the route along the heritage buildings of Vadodara city. The marathon race will see heritage points like Mandvi Gate, Raopura Tower, Sursagar Lake and Nyay Mandir. Runners in the old city will see old monuments of the past making this the biggest heritage marathon in Gujarat. 

Other highlights will include the presence of 10 to 15 runners from small villages in Madhya Pradesh, trained by marathoner Gautam Pawar from Vadodara. MGVM 2023 will be attended by 15 representatives of Y20 from New Delhi under the leadership of its convener Ajay Kashyap, to create awareness for youth health and their cause of good governance.
