“Under the vision of Prime Minister Narendra and the guidance of Amit Shah, Ahmedabad’s green cover has reached 10 percent,” said Health Minister Rishikesh Patel in the inauguration of Oxygen Park in Ahmedabad.
Under the National Clean Air Programme, Oxygen Park has been prepared by Ahemdabad Municipal Corporation near Hebatpur Railway Crossing in Thaltej by planting 12,000 trees using the Miyawaki method in an area of 4200 square meters on a PPP basis. Also, four students who made maximum use of BRTS were encouraged by gifting a bicycle.
On the occasion of launching Oxygen Park on the occasion of ‘International Day of Clean Air for Blue Skies’, Minister Rishikesh Patel said that continuous efforts are being made to increase green cover in Ahmedabad. Against the challenge of pollution due to industrial development and increasing traffic, the AMC has undertaken operations on a mission mode to improve the city’s air quality.
Explaining the importance of oxygen parks in urban areas, the minister said that due to oxygen parks or urban forests, the quality of air improves, along with the quality of life. It has direct positive effects on the health of the urbanites.
On this occasion, the minister requested people to help reduce pollution in the city by traveling collectively or using public transport. He emphasized developing non-conventional and renewable energy sources and increasing the use of clean energy.
In this program, four students who made maximum use of BRTS were encouraged by gifting bicycles by the hands of Minister Shri Rishikesh Patel and dignitaries.
A total of 12,000 trees have been raised in an area of 4200 square meters near the Hebatpur railway crossing in the Thaltej area. In this oxygen park, a small but dense forest has been created using the Miyawaki method. In order to expand the green cover in Ahmedabad city, Ahmedabad Municipal Corporation has been planting trees on a large scale in the last few years through the Mission Million Trees campaign. So far 128 oxygen parks have been prepared by the Ahmedabad Municipal Corporation.
Ahmedabad City Mayor Kirit Parmar, Deputy Mayor Geeta Patel, AMUCO Standing Committee Chairman Hitesh Barot, Municipal Commissioner Lochan Sehra, AMUCO officials, office bearers, and local leaders were present in this program.
