Parul University’s Faculty of Physiotherapy, in collaboration with the Social Responsive Cell and the University’s Women Development Cell, organized two events to celebrate International Day of Yoga on 21st June. The university aimed to raise awareness about the benefits of practicing yoga and support India’s PM Narendra Modi’s initiative of “Yoga for Vasudhaiva Kutumbakum” – Yoga for the betterment of one world and one family.
The first event focused on a yoga session for children from nearby villages. Led by experts from the Faculty of Physiotherapy, the children participated in a morning session where they learned various yoga poses and exercises. The session aimed to improve their flexibility, reduce stress, and enhance their overall health. The event was a success, with many children expressing interest in continuing their yoga practice.
The second event featured a PhysioYoga session on postural health, with the presence of Dr. Nilima Patel, a renowned member of the Indian Association of Physiotherapy. Dr. Patel, the author of the book “Yoga & Rehabilitation,” shared her expertise with the attendees. The session was attended by members from all faculties of Parul University.
Yoga, known for its holistic benefits in promoting mind-body balance and reducing stress, has been a key focus at Parul University. By engaging students and university members in yoga and other physical activities, the university aims to combat physical inactivity associated with non-communicable diseases like cardiovascular disorders, cancer, and diabetes.
The events held by Parul University on International Yoga Day exemplify its commitment to wellness and healthy living while honoring the theme of “Yoga for Vasudhaiva Kutumbakum” – promoting yoga for the betterment of all, fostering a sense of unity and global well-being.
