Parul University signs MoU with NDA; Catering education opportunities to boarded out cadets.

The call to national service has been made to many, but it has been answered by a few who have committed themselves to go through what it takes to establish their career in the armed forces. With this very motive, the National Defense Academy (NDA) at Khadakwasla, Pune has been established as the country’s premier services training institute that transforms students into cadets and ultimately into servicemen who go on to enroll in the defense forces to serve our great nation.

Vadodara-based Parul University in furtherance of its armed forces support initiatives recently signed an MoU with the National Defense Academy, Pune to provide continuing education to those cadets who are unable to pursue the entirety of their academic course at the NDA.

The National Defense Academy (NDA) offers undergraduate training along with a center of excellence in military training and is among the top tri-service academies which train cadets of the Army, Navy, and Airforce. NDA provides structured training for three years comprising multiple disciplines, including outdoor training and academic nurturing.

Upon the successful completion of the three years of extensive training, the graduating cadets are awarded BA, B.Sc, and B.Tech degrees from Jawaharlal Nehru University. The graduating students proceed to the respective training centers for further training before joining the armed forces of India. However, this extensive training does take a toll on a handful of cadets who face challenges in completing the program with the NDA.

Numerous candidates withdraw or fail to fulfill the requirements of the academy and are boarded out for not being able to fully satisfy the required criteria for completion in the areas of academics, outdoor training, standards, and protocols due to injuries/medical complications post or prior to the course of the training. Such boarded-out candidates face numerous challenges in continuing their academics as a result of multiple reasons thus, requiring academic rehabilitation which through this MoU, Parul University will be offering to such candidates.

The University’s President Dr. Devanshu Patel said “We strongly believe that quality education is everyone’s right. Parul University is one of the very few universities in the country to hold such an agreement with a prestigious national level academy like the NDA, which is a matter of great honor and pride for us. With exclusive lateral entries for every semester, these students will be provided with all the necessary guidance in completing their studies, with provisions of credit transfer for their academic endeavors at the NDA. This will go a long way in removing the fear of academic loss and uncertainty among deserving bright students. Moreover, Parul University has a dedicated Armed Forces Motivational Cell, that functions to instill a sense of national service through a career in the Armed Forces amongst the students. With such an enriching environment, these students will feel right at home at Parul University.”
