Senior Division NCC Air Wing  cadets ,Uktarsh Kumar and Sharma Khanjan Mohan Bhai students of 5th semester Aeronautical Engineering(PIET) , along with Cadet Nidhi Purohit student of 3rd semester Aeronautical Diploma, from Parul University’s Institute of Diploma Engineering, are amongst the students selected in the District level NCC evaluation round. Cadet Utkarsh Kumar was also declared as the best cadet NCC Cadet from Vadodara NCC Air Wing. These students have made an outstanding display of their lasting commitment and dedication towards national service by embarking on a training and grooming journey under the guiding arms of the National Cadet Corps (NCC). In pursuit of their agenda towards instilling the spirit of National service within the students, city-based Parul University through the efforts of its Armed Forces Motivational Cell has been paving the way for students to actively engage in Armed Forces related activities. Owing to this agenda these three University students have been shortlisted out of a total of 600 students to represent the district in the State level NCC competitions, to be held from the 16th to the 25th of November 2019 in Ahmadabad. The Inter Group Competitions are strategically designed to act as platforms for testing and evaluating the students’ intellectual skills, physical abilities and teamwork capabilities. The cadets effectively cleared all the rounds, resulting in their selection amongst the finest students in the Vadodara District, falling under the No.1 Gujarat Air Squadron NCC unit , Palace Road , Vadodara.

Cadet Khanjan said that “The platform was very challenging for me but, I owe my success due to the encouragement and motivation which I received from my family, our trainers at the NCC camps and the officers at PU’s Armed Forces Motivational Cell”.

From the inception of Armed Forces, Motivational Cell in Parul University the awareness and eagerness to join NCC has increased manifold and over 70 students have been inducted in the three Wings of NCC in  Vadodara District. Such growing interest in the students comes as a result of the countless platforms of motivation which have been created by the University, by hosting Senior Officers from Indian  Armed Forces, and also hosting notable personalities, as a way of inspiring and motivating students towards a path of national service. Joining the NCC marks as the baby steps towards a lifetime journey in the Armed Forces or in the general service of society. In addition to their academic activities, the students have been actively participating in several NCC training camps, which have been vital in developing their discipline, knowledge, ethics and human values.

For these students, this selection is a starting point towards the lifetime honour of taking part in the Republic Day Parade and PM’s Rally, to be held in New Delhi in the coming year. The Vadodara contingent will be once again presented with the challenge of clearing the State rounds of the competitions in Ahmedabad and upon their qualification, they will be bestowed with the prestigious honor of being a part of the Republic Day Parade.

The University is proud to see it’s students showcasing dedication and commitment towards the path which they have chosen to serve the Nation. At present in Parul University, a large number of students have displayed interest in Armed Forces related activities. The NCC does more than preparing the students for the Armed Forces and inculcate Defence Services work ethos that is characterised by hard work, honesty, selfless service, the dignity of labour, secular outlook and spirit of comradeship and adventure.
