Paving The Path for Serving The Nation: Parul University’s Student and NCC Cadet Gets Selected in the Indian Navy with an All India Rank of 31 in CDSE 2021

With the recent 73rd Republic Day celebrations leaving behind an aura of patriotism and national pride, Parul University was celebrating this pride with one of its students commencing his journey in the Indian Armed Forces. Gautam Jha has become the name that has left the many youths of this University and the city inspired to serve the nation through his recent selection in the Indian Naval Academy by clearing the Combined Defence Services Exam and securing an AIR rank of 31.

To express his passion for national service Gautam framed the ideal path in his academic journey that would lead him right where he needed to be in his civil service career. Gautam began his journey with the NCC upon joining Parul University and being nurtured by the University’s Armed Forces Motivational Cell, which allowed him to gain a real-time and in-depth learning experience into the inner workings of the armed forces.

Joining the National Cadet Corps was a life-changing experience for Gautam, as it allowed him to gain the knowledge and practical experience that he required in preparation for the Armed Forces. Beyond merely imparting knowledge, the NCC and Parul University’s Armed Forces Motivational Cell experience allowed him to also develop his character, and discipline in a way that would satisfy a career in the armed forces. During the final year of his Mechanical Engineering, Gautam commenced his preparations for the defense examinations.

“In March Gautam wrote his Combined Defence Services examination and he cleared them with flying colors and he was then selected for NSB at Visakhapatnam. In August he was recommended and declared to be medically fit. The UPSC declared merit for the CDSE examination and Gautam stood on AIR 31 for the Naval Academy. I am truly proud of the hard work and commitment which he has displayed during his entire preparation”, said Commander Sanjay Sharma, Director Armed Forces Motivational Cell, Parul University. The University through its uniquely structured program designed for assisting armed forces aspirants in their examination preparation was able to assist Cadet Jha by guiding him through his learning process.

“During my final year, I started preparing for the defense examination known as the combined defense services exam conducted by UPSC. The Armed Forces Motivational Cell at Parul University used to conduct these defense exam coachings for me and other armed forces aspirants. Beyond the scope of only preparation, taking part in this program also exposed me to the constant motivation from our guide and mentor, Commander Sanjay Sharma”, said Gautam.

The university consists of a team of experienced experts who have a rich background in the Armed Forces such as Commander Sanjay Sharma who mentors the students through lectures and other enriching activities. The course seeks to create a human resource of organized, trained, and motivated youth to provide leadership in all walks of life and always available for the service of the nation. “I want to thank Parul University and the Forces Motivational Cell for helping me achieve my dream of serving my nation”, added Jha.

“As a University, we are truly proud of the remarkable efforts which Gautam Jha has made towards his commitment to serving the nation through the armed forces. Our efforts have been committed to providing the students with more than an education, but a career that allows them to ensure the best form of national service”, said the University’s President, Dr. Devanshu J Patel.
