The District Celebration Committee on Tuesday conducted a meeting under the leadership of Collector Shalini Agarwal. The guidance regarding effective work planning to accelerate livelihood and earning activities by women on this day was discussed by them.
Collector Shalini Agrawal said that on September 17 e-Mukhyamantri Mahila Utkarsh Yojana will be launched by Chief Minister Vijay Rupani at Gandhinagar. The administration is planning to broadcast the e-launch event of the scheme live by the Chief Minister.
Under this Yojana, financial assistance will be provided to 10 lakh women who will be empowered. This loan will become financial support for the family and home. The interest is to be borne by the State Government as a part of various other provisions included in the scheme.
The women community of the city is informed about the scheme as the programs will be organized at three places in the city district on this day. This has opened a new door for Gujarat’s women’s power to become self-reliant, as for the first time more than 10 lakh women will be given loans at zero percent interest. Under this scheme, the Chief Minister has allocated a budget of Rs.15 crore for this Yojana.
This will help women to become self-reliant who were affected due to coronavirus. A committee of sixteen members has been constituted under the chairmanship of the District Collector for the effective implementation of the Yojana.
On the occasion of the launch of the scheme in the Vadodara district, a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) will be signed with the banks for women-oriented lending. Also, loan certificates will be distributed to self-help women groups.
It may be mentioned here that 7,503 self-help groups have been formed in eight talukas of Vadodara district. In the year 2020-2021, out of this group, Rs. 446.06 lakh has been provided by Credit Banks to 3050 women belonging to 305 SHGs for livelihood through various self-employment activities.
The loans will be provided by RBI approved lending institutions. The scheme will be implemented in rural areas by the Gujarat Livelihood Promotion Company of the Rural Development Department, while in urban areas the Gujarat Urban Livelihood Mission of the Urban Development Department will be implemented. Mukhyamantri Mahila Utkarsh Yojana will be a catalyst in fulfilling the dreams of millions of women of the state to live with self-reliance.
