Post-Graduate seats got added to 16 departments at Parul Institute of Medical Sciences and Research

General Medicine, Paediatrics, Dermatology, General Surgery, Orthopaedics, Obstetrics & Gynecology, Ophthalmology, Radiology, Anaesthesia, Pathology, Microbiology, Biochemistry, Anatomy, Physiology, Pharmacology, and Community Medicine are among the 16 postgraduate departments at Parul Institute of Medical Science and Research that have received permissions for a total of 53 seats.

The first college in Gujarat to begin postgraduate studies in the current academic year 2021-22.

The institute has obtained permissions for the seats, which will help to meet the growing demand for trained medical experts in the field of medicine starting in the current academic year. With this addition, Gujarat will have around 1,963 post-graduate seats (MD/MS).

Dr. Geetika Madan Patel, Medical Director of Parul University, said, “Parul Institute of Medical Sciences & Research is the first college in Gujarat to start post-graduation in the present academic year.”

“This year, the National Medical Commission granted our college one-year recognition for its undergraduate program (MBBS). The number of post-graduate seats in Gujarat is still limited, and many MBBS graduates leave the country or state to pursue postgraduate or other fellowship programs. We intend to enhance the number of post-graduate seats shortly,” she remarked.

Parul Sevashram Hospital is one of the few medical-college hospitals in Gujarat to have full-fledged super-specialty departments that have been serving people’s medical needs in the areas of cardiology and cardiovascular surgery, nephrology, urology, neurology and neurosurgery, pediatric surgery, among other general specialty departments. 

“We’ve outfitted our medical facilities with medical technology, which is being embraced and implemented across all of our wings, including operating rooms, critical care units, and other departments.  This will also assist students in staying updated with the best medical procedures around the world,” stated Dr. Komal Patel, the Director.

“I am confident, our established facilities and dedicated expert resources will give us an advantage in ensuring a complete and comprehensive training to our postgraduate students, who will be joining their respective departments very soon,” Dr. Devanshu Patel, President of Parul University, added.
