A rally of almost 6000 members of the Vadodara Plastic & Disposable Association is on the way to meet the Collector to submit a memorandum, demanding to lift the ban on single use plastic.
Members in the rally are those who own factories in Makarpura GIDC, Halol, Bharuch, Nadiad, Anand, etc. “Single-use plastic is 100% reusable and made adhering to the guidelines given by the government,” said one of the members.
The members of the association fear a loss of employment of around 2-3 lac people. More so, the plastic ban was put ahead of Diwali that may lead to a loss of procured material costing around Rs. 15 lac, as they are unsure about the future of their business.
