PU’s students receive scholarships and laptops under the ‘Women in Engineering Program’

Parul University throughout its academics has been a firm in providing equal opportunities and platforms to encourage young girls to engage and excel in the field of engineering. The ‘Women in Engineering’ scholarship program by Sikshana Foundation aims to further promote this very gender disparity in the field of engineering by supporting female students from rural areas with scholarships and resources to excel in their careers.

Recently, 10 talented girls from the Faculty of Engineering and Technology of Parul University were recognized by the Sikshana foundation to avail benefits of the Women in Engineering scholarship program. These young girls received laptops and remarkable scholarships worth Rs. 9,750 sponsored by ABB-Hitachi. These scholarships were granted to encourage girls to take up technical subjects and give their skills the right push.  Skill development particularly in the field of technology has become one of the most essential parts of today’s modern society, therefore through these distributions, these young girls will be fully equipped to engage with the world.

The felicitation ceremony for these girls saw the presence of senior authorities Dr. H. S. Vijaykumar, Pro-Vice-Chancellor, Parul University, Shri. Tarun Garg, Head – Design and Engineering – Transformers, Ms. Hiral Rajput, HUB Human Resources Manager – South Asia, Shri. Nitesh Patel, Head of Administration and CSR-Vadodara from ABB – Hitachi and Ms. Usha Srivastava, Associate Director, Sikshana Foundation and other senior officials of Parul University. The University has also been taking active steps and measures to provide young girls with a platform not only to pursue their engineering studies but also to enhance their innovative skill sets abilities, and turn their ideas into realities.

Time and again Parul University has taken concrete steps for women empowerment both inside the campus and outside it, for society in general. Moreover, even the University’s Dean of the Faculty of Engineering and Technology, Dr. Unnati Joshi, has stood as a great example for young girls across the campus and through such proactive efforts, more young girls have become inclined to take up careers in the field of engineering.
