The AIIMS in New Delhi and the Tata Memorial Hospital in Mumbai provide the best treatment for cancer. A procedure that has rarely been performed even in these hospitals has been successfully performed in the Radiation Oncology Department of Sayaji Hospital to relieve an elderly patient from a cancerous ulcer of the palate without shedding a drop of blood, pain, or any side effects.
Dr. Anil Goyal, Head of the Department, informed that the cancer was caused by a cancerous ulcer in the palate of this elderly patient. They decided to cure it with the help of a very advanced and expensive linear accelerator machine for radiation-based treatment of cancer installed at the department with the help of the state government.
The problem was to deliver the catheter of the machine to the place of the ulcer in which Dr. Shoaib and his team of the dental department collaborated as well in the treatment.
Dr. Goyal further said that they created a frame through which we were able to successfully remove the ulcer with radiation therapy by delivering the catheter to the affected area. This is probably the first time in Gujarat that successful treatment has been given with this procedure.
He said no surgery had to be performed, not a single drop of blood had flowed from the patient’s body. The treatment is almost painless and has been done without side effects and the patient has not lost weight. The look of the face has also been intact. This advanced treatment is done for free in the SSG hospital.
The medical superintendent of Sayaji Hospital, Dr. Ranjan Krishna Iyer also congratulated all for this successful cancer treatment.
