The name of Sadbhavana Old Age Home in Rajkot is very well known. Sadbhavana Trust is also plantS trees on all the roads of Gujarat. But it has joined a more philanthropic campaign. They have started the first dog ashram in Rajkot. This dog ashram has capacity of accommodating 500 dogs. When the ashram was started two months ago, around 50 dogs were recruited. Today that number has reached to 132. “Here we started with 50 dogs and today 132 dogs are being treated,” informs Khushi Patel, Manager. She further said that there were blind dogs, dogs suffering from skin disease, some were also suffering from life threatening diseases. If some dog’s leg is amputated in an accident, such beings are also served here.
A 24-hour doctor has also been kept. Here, along with the treatment, oxygen bottles are also given to all the dogs if required.
All the dogs are given three meals a day, and if they need other food, they are also provided with other facilities.
“When most of the dogs are suffering from skin diseases, the facility of spraying them with ointment has also been made available here,” confirms Dr. Jash Patel.
At present, around 132 dogs are kept in this dog ashram. But if there is more demand, those dogs are brought here in the vehicle of Sadbhavana Dog Ashram and taken care of. In the future, up to 500 dogs are planned to be accommodated here.
