Rajkot’s ‘Swachhta Hi Seva’ Campaign Takes Stringent Action Against Littering and Plastic Violations

“Penalties Imposed on 61 Offenders for Littering in Public, 9.7 kg of Prohibited Plastic Seized”

In a concerted effort to make Rajkot a cleaner and plastic-free city, while raising awareness about the importance of cleanliness, the Rajkot Municipal Corporation launched the “Swacchta Hi Seva” campaign from October 15, 2023, to December 16, 2023. As part of this drive, the Solid Waste Management Department of Rajkot Municipal Corporation conducted an extensive cleanliness operation on October 25, 2023, across three zones, resulting in punitive action against 61 citizens for littering and illegal disposal of garbage. Furthermore, 9.7 kilograms of prohibited plastic were confiscated.

In the central zone, 24 individuals were held accountable for their actions, with 3 kilograms of banned plastics seized.

West Zone In the western zone, sanitary inspectors and sub-inspectors from wards no. 01, 08, 09, 10, 11, and 12 executed a comprehensive campaign to ensure cleanliness. This team penalized 24 citizens who were contributing to public nuisance in the West Zone and confiscated 5.4 kilograms of banned plastics.

East Zone The eastern zone witnessed a similar drive by the team of sanitary inspectors and sub-inspectors from wards no. 04, 05, 06, 15, 16, and 18. Thirteen citizens in the East Zone were taken to task for their actions, and 1.3 kilograms of prohibited plastics were seized during this campaign.
