Street food lovers in the city are a plenty, but what we don’t realize is how the delicious tasting food is made in extremely unhygienic conditions.
Late Thursday evening, in a yet another break down on street food vendors, the Vadodara Municipal Corporation (VMC) launched a surprise checking at Ratri Bazaar. The pile of complaints against the hygienic condition at the bazaar was what motivated a team of Food Safety Officers to check 38 shops at the market. After thorough checking, the complaints were found true and 14 vendors were given notices.
Interestingly, VMC, for the first time ever, shut down one of the food outlet Marwadi Food Corner, as they were using synthetic colour to prepare food at the shop.
The VMC destroyed 36 kilograms of food material such as food colour, soup, and other prepared food. More so, around 40 samples of prepared food and ingredients were collected from the market, which include cold coco, rice, dal, pani-puri and its ingredients, gravies, paneer, biryani and others.
