Sheikh Babu’s custodial death was quite a piece of shocking and sensational news in Vadodara City.
Sheikh Babu Nisar was originally from Telangana and a resident of Ahmedabad who had come to Vadodara to sell items. He was detained by the Fatehgunj police on suspicion of a theft case. On the other hand, Sheikh Babu’s family members started searching for him after he failed to return and then filed a complaint about his disappearance, in the police station. On the other hand, after a writ petition was filed in the High Court, the police investigation revealed that Sheikh Babu was tortured at the police station and his body was disposed of. So a murder case was registered against PI Dharmendrasinh Gohil, PSI Dasharath Rabari, 4 constables Pankaj, Yogendrasinh, Rajesh, and Hitesh and all the accused fled. The investigation was handed over to CID crime (Gandhinagar) and SP Girish Pandya started investigating.
All the accused, including the PI, were absconding for more than a month and various teams were formed to arrest them. All the accused appeared before the SP at the CID Crime office in Gandhinagar and their corona tests were then conducted. All of them were later arrested after they tested negative and the accused have been produced before a Vadodara court. The court granted 10 days remand to all the accused, i.e till 11th September.
Gandhinagar CID reached the Fategunj Police Station for the reconstruction of the incident in the sensational murder case of Sheikh Babu in Vadodara city. Locals gathered at the spot after the accused policemen were brought to the same police station where they were posted.
How his body was taken away and disposed of and other details will be accessed by the CID crime team as they will reconstruct the whole scene from the beginning.
To date, the body of Sheikh Babu has not been found. The CID crime brought the accused to Vadodara to get the location of Sheikh Babu’s body. Gandhinagar CID Crime Branch SP Girish Pandya said that the accused were brought to Vadodara for the reconstruction of the crime from the place where Babu Sheikh was detained, brought to the police station, and the disposal of the body by them.
The investigation is underway to connect the missing links of the incident. The disappeared CCTV footage is also trying to be retrieved after getting in touch with the technical agency.
