Age is just a number, the zest of life is what keeps us alive!
An esteemed Bharatanatyam dancer, professor, HOD and Dean astonished the city when she applied to become a student of the same department and faculty where she had previously served.
Parul Shah, at the age of 66, appeared for the entrance test to study again in the Performing Arts faculty, where she was a former Dean. She retired in the year 2014 and is determined to take admission in the first year’s bachelors of performing arts in Kathak.
Shah had started learning dance in the year 1962 with Kathak under renowned gurus, but could not finish her formal education in the genre. Persistent to get admission at the faculty, she hopes to ‘complete the circle’.
A winner of many awards, Shah was diagnosed with cancer and has survived it with great courage and positivity. After her recovery, the doctors told her to be physically active in order to minimize the chances of re-occurrence. Nonetheless, Shah has soulful love and respect for dance and is strong-willed to always be active in the field.
At present, Shah is in Italy tutoring young kids in Bharatanatyam and being an inspiration with her young-spirit.
