Review: Tomatos Restaurant

The most confusing question of mankind after why was I born on this Earth? is where should we go out to eat? specially when it is a Sunday and you have less experimenting people in your family.

Same happened to us. After endless discussion and confusion we decided to go for lunch at Tomatos Diner. My mum was still skeptical about the food, but she wasn’t let down appealing to the vibrant Indian palate, the menu is a mix of global savory hits.

Place: Tomatos Diner has the theme recreated for giving American Diner experience. The best part! complimentary popcorn. Considering how much the menu has been tweaked and how playful the food has become, more vibrant color in the decor would not come amiss. Sunlight, streaming in from the glass frontage, bounces off the red, orange beige-and-wood decor, telling you this is a place with nothing to hide. Outside, the trees swelter in the afternoon sun, with a breeze offering a hint of respite. Food aromas waft around, whetting my appetite.

Food:

My mum was bent upon having Punjabi food and she wasn’t at all disappointed. All tastes have been left traditional, which is to say, rustic just the way it should be.

Paneer lababdar : Voluptuous with meltingly tender paneer pieces and silken gravy, this i would say is probably the very best dish on the menu, meltingly tender and bursting with flavor it actually tastes a lot better, especially with the soft, puffy parathas.

Veg Ceaser Salad:

Loaded with dressing and fresh shredded lettuce with black olives and bell peppers it was as filling as any main course item. Usually salads are loaded with dressings which this was too but it was bearable not the usual type.

The Supremo Pizza came next, in a pan crust base, loaded with cheese s and a generous amount of veggies. It was well made and perfect for the younger crowd. The flavors hold sway on the crust. Bell peppers, olives, jalapenos… all the tastes and textures burst through. I love it!

Lastly what is a meal for a Gujarati without ending it with a glass of chaas? sheer indulgence, with the the calorie measures. :p

A lovely place to go with your family or friends. though the ambiance and food is global, the chef there knows how to make you feel at home with the lovely Indian food and the best part

is the service, very hospitable and friendly service. A must visit place for all.
