The atmosphere of Ropada village in Gujarat is somewhat different. The primary school here is developing holistically by combining science with ideas, as well as co-curricular activities, engaging children with various sports. The school is committed to implementing the new ideas of the villagers including the school children through the ‘Space Club’ and ‘Innovation Club’ in the year 2016 itself.
Today students from any school in the world can easily connect with any school in any country through technology. In addition, radical changes have taken place in education in recent times, with the addition of subjects such as technology and coding to online education.
Ropada Primary School in Daskaroi taluka has conducted nine experiments in the last five years and has been successful. Speaking of education, the school received a state-of-the-art new building for Rs 1.37 crore from Sophos Company. A “Horizon Science Lab” got advanced at a cost of Rs.4 lakhs. In which, students will be able to increase their interest in science by getting an education along with learning new experiments regularly.
The students of the school will be able to get the necessary information through practical questions through various questions on the difficult issues in science. Keeping in mind that every child has a unique self-interest, the school has created a “makers hangout” section in which students can learn robotics, mechanical, electronics, and even physical coding under their proper guidance and move forward at their own pace. This lab will be useful not only for primary school students but also for any student studying in the village and will be useful for them to further understand the science subject. The teachers and students of this school will also be trained by the lab technicians from time to time.
The principal of the school Nishithbhai Acharya says, “Our school has got several facilities from the state government. This includes a special ‘Gyankunj digital classroom’. We have also made special efforts to inculcate an interest in science in our students. In addition to the government, we have the support of other private organizations and charitable organizations. So far only one student from the village has studied in the Science stream and is working in his field. “Kshitij Science Lab” got started so that the students of this village can advance in the science stream in the future. The only goal is for the village-school students to make maximum use of this lab and move forward to pursue their studies.”
It may be mentioned here that since the year 2015, the students of the school have been getting karate training. Starting the sport of skating in the year 2016, through the hard work of Praveen Thakkar and Parva Pandya, the students of this school are also doing rope yoga along with speed skating, reverse skating, skating hoops, skating musical chairs, and wave boards. The school has also been honored by Sachin Tendulkar, the greatest player in the world of cricket.
For digital education during the lockdown, every child from the government could easily get online education through a Microsoft Team App account, and during the lockdown, an online summer camp got organized by Ropada School for the first 150 days of Gujarat State, and students from 1200 different districts for 300 teachers. Together there was an online summer camp with over 500 activities. The school has received two national-level honors. At present, the students in the school are participating in various activities during the summer vacation and are also learning contemporary dance by becoming flexible through various practices.
The natural environment of Ropada Primary School is also very beautiful. To keep the temperature below 2 to 3 degrees during the summer season, a noble effort has been made to maintain the balance of the environment by planting trees on all sides of the school campus.
