Saffron flag unfurls in Vadodara consecutively for the 4th time

The Bharatiya Janta Party (BJP) has won the Vadodara Municipal Corporation (VMC) elections for the fourth time in a row in Vadodara. The BJP has won 69 seats while Congress has won 7 seats. The BJP panel has won in Ward No-2, 3, 4, 5, 7, 8, 9, 10, 11, 12, 14, 15, 17, 18, and 19 and the Congress managed to get the panel won in Ward No-1.

In Ward No. 4 Anil Parmar and in Ward No. 7, Congress Sitting Corporator Jagruti Rana were defeated.

In Ward No. 13, BJP won 3 seats, while Congress won 1 seat in which Congress’ Balu Surve has won for the third time in a row. In Ward No.14, Congress Councilor Hemangini Kolekar was defeated.

In Ward No.16, BJP and Congress won two seats each. Veteran Congress Leader, Chandrakant Srivastava and Alkaben Patel won and from BJP, Ghanshyam Solanki and Snehal Patel won.

BJP’s two young candidates – Bhumika Rana and Shrirang Ayre will represent their areas. Both the candidates are 22-years-old and have won the elections with a good margin. On the other hand, Veteran Congress leader, Chiragbhai Zaveri who has been winning for 34 consecutive years was defeated in Ward No. 18. Chirag Zaveri said that he lost because of the demarcation and that the seats of Congress have been reduced.

Ahead of elections, BJP State President C.R. Patil had said that Congress’ votes will not even be in double-figure. While on the other hand, the BJP President’s “Mission-76” has remained unfulfilled.

The BJP has regained power over the VMC, which has brought BJP candidates and activists into a celebration mood. On the other hand, the Congress also celebrated the arrival of the Congress panel in Ward No-1.

However, both parties violated the COVID-19 guidelines is missing in celebrations of both the parties. BJP candidates and workers offered sweets to each other and celebrated on the beats of dhol and DJ. However, during the celebrations, activists and candidates were seen without masks and a clear violation of social distance.
