A group of 300 Saurashtrian Tamils departed from Madurai to attend the Saurashtra Tamil Sangam in Somnath. Upon their arrival at Vadodara Railway Station, they were greeted with a warm and enthusiastic reception. Even the youth who disembarked from the train coaches began dancing to the beat of drums and nagara.
The district administration had arranged for a special welcome for the guests, including posters with the slogans “Ek Bharat, Shrestha Bharat” in both Tamil and Gujarati languages. Elderly guests and local officials, including MLA Manisha Vakil and Collector Mr. Atul Gor, were present to welcome them with cold lassi, water bottles, and flowers.
The guests expressed their satisfaction with the arrangements made by the railway system for their journey from Madurai to Vadodara. One tourist, named Satish, shared his joy at being able to reconnect with his hometown and learn more about it, while another traveler named Shri Manigandam expressed his hope that the trip would allow him to better understand and appreciate his heritage.
The enthusiastic reception and hospitality shown to the Saurashtrian Tamils at Vadodara Railway Station exemplified Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s vision of Ekk Bharat, ‘Shrestha Bharat.’
