Gujarat ATS and Vadodara SOG have jointly busted a spy network operating from an illegal VoIP exchange in the Vasna area of Vadodara and arrested one alleged accused. It has been revealed that the entire network is operating from Maharashtra.
As per available details, Gujarat ATS had received input that international call routing was being done by running an illegal VoIP exchange in the Vasna area of Vadodara using a postpaid PRI line. Based on which the ATS team with the help of SOG, Vadodara, raided Shop No. 30, Siddharth Excellence on Vasna Road, and exposed spying from the illegal VoIP exchange. The team arrested one from the spot.
Further interrogation of the accused revealed that Ginny Anil (Noah) Vaswani is the tenant of this shop and his accomplices Amir alias Haroon Abdul Majeed Natwani and Isaq Sachin Raj together set up computers and WiFi and routers for international call routing and were operating from Maharashtra by creating illegal VoIP exchanges.
These accused chose to use an illegal VoIP exchange because the call from the VoIP exchange leaves no trace of the original international number, so no one knows where the call came from. It is illegal under the Indian Telegraph Act to operate such a VoIP exchange. Due to the seriousness of the matter, the ATS team arrested the accused Shahzad Mohammad Rafiq Malek.
The investigating team seized Jiofi routers, WiFi routers, CPUs, etc. used in the crime and hunt is on to arrest the remaining culprits. Further investigation is on in the matter.
