‘SRESTHA’ Gujarat Healthcare Project: Health Minister meets World Bank Delegates

The World Bank delegates had a meeting regarding ‘SRESTHA  project with Gujarat Health Minister Hrishikesh Patel. The project ‘SRESTHA’ (System Reform Endeavors for Transformed Health Outcomes In Gujarat) focuses on healthcare in rural and urban areas. Under SRESTHA Gujarat project to improve the quality of the health system of the state, expand the services so that the benefits of health services reach rural and urban easily, strengthen the state epidemic prevention system, increase the quality of non-communicable and psychiatric services in the state and to increase the quality of mother and child nutrition.

The project was discussed in detail by the World Bank team and the Health Minister. For the first time in the state of Gujarat, assistance was given by the World Bank in the field of health. An estimated  Rs 3,750 crores will be spent under the SRESTHA Gujarat project. The five-year total cost for the project will be around Rs 3,750 crores wherein, Rs 2,625 crores, will be provided by the World Bank. While Gujarat will spend Rs 1,125 crore in five years.

Among the members of the World Bank visiting Gujarat is Rahul Pandey, Task Team Leader, SRESTHA-G, Andrew Sunil Rajkumar, Co-Task Team Leader, SRESTHA-G, Elena Minister, Senior Health Specialist, World Bank, Washington DC, Dr. Guru Rajesh Jamie, Health Specialist, World Bank, New Delhi, Dr. Navneet Manchanda, Health Economist, World Bank, New Delhi had a detailed discussion on the project with the Hrishikesh Patel, Minister of Health, Manoj Agarwal, Additional Chief Secretary, Department of Health, and Shahmina Hussain, Commissioner of Health.
