A Vadodara family has filed a complaint against the SSG hospital for allegedly switching their infant. They sought a DNA test and enlisted the assistance of the police. However, the hospital has disputed the allegations and started an investigation into the matter.
Shakuntala Malla has four daughters and lives with her family in the Subhanpura neighborhood of the city, according to accessible information. Due to labor pains, she was taken to SSG hospital’s Rukmani Chainani Maternity Home by 108 ambulances in the morning. Private hospitals demanded more money, so the family decided to deliver at Sayaji Hospital.
The hospital staff notified her husband, Mahendra Malla, about the birth of a baby boy. After some time, they were informed that her wife had given birth to a baby girl, he claimed. The family claimed the infant was switched by the hospital system. They asked for a DNA test of the child. In this case, they also seek assistance from the police.
\However, Dr. Ashish Gokhale, the Head of Maternity Department, stated that no one had notified him of the occurrence; he learned about it from the media.
As per records, the number of deliveries that night was less, the scope for the infants getting exchanged is not possible in such a scenario. For further investigation on the matter, the nurse or doctor on duty at the time will be questioned. The Raopura Police are also looking into this matter.
