‘Suffering daily due to receiving contaminated water at home’: MLA Shailesh Mehta to VMC while discussing civic problems

Since the floods hit the city on July 31, the civilians of the city have aggressively started highlighting major problems with the city’s inefficient municipal body, of which water woes is an issue that has been prevailing longer than ever.

On Thursday, various elected representatives of the city met with the top officials of Vadodara Municipal Corporation (VMC) to discuss the prevailing civil problems in the city after the furious outrage of the civilians over the inefficiency of VMC. The panel of elected representatives included Rajendra Trivedi and minister of state for Narmada and urban housing, Yogesh Patel, Vadodara MP Ranjan Bhatt, as well as MLAs Manisha Vakil, Seema Mohile, Jitendra Sukhadiya and Shailesh Mehta.

The pathetic water problems faced by a major part of the city were discussed in detail. It was pointed out by MLA Shailesh Mehta that his home too was a victim to receiving contaminated water. Sources say that the major issues faced by the civilians are receiving inefficient water, contaminated dirty water. The representatives also questioned why the issue prevailed regardless of the major cleanup of Nimeta filtration facility this year.

Poor sanitation and health conditions in the city were also pointed out by the political representatives in the meeting.
