The CM of Gujarat Bhupendra Patel was accompanied by the Thai Ambassador to India Ms. Pattarat Hongtong and the delegation held a courtesy call in Gandhinagar. During the meeting, she expressed Thailand’s readiness to participate in the Global Center for Traditional Medicine (GCTM) to be set up by the World Health Organization (WHO) and the Ministry of AYUSH in Jamnagar, Gujarat, and to exchange AYUSH-Ayurveda practices.
In this regard, the Ambassador of Thailand informed CM Bhupendra Patel that a hospital for the AYUSH system and Ayurveda treatment is also running in Thailand. Not only that, while Ayurveda product companies are also operating in Thailand, are also keen to take full advantage of this world-class center of Gujarat. She also discussed in this meeting the possibilities of partnership with Gujarat, especially in the fields of the pharmaceutical sector, renewable energy, tourism, and e-vehicle.
Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel also discussed the need to promote the tourism sector between Gujarat and Thailand, citing the role of Thailand as a major tourist destination and Gujarat as a state with many tourism diversities, including the World Tourism Center and the Statue of Unity. CM Bhupendra Patel said that even in advanced institutes like Forensic Science University, Energy University, and GCTM in Gujarat, the youth of Thailand can come to study and research under the Student Exchange Program.
The Chief Minister also elaborated on the fact that Gujarat has become a destination of choice for investors of the world with its best ecosystem of infrastructure, connectivity, etc.
Taking advantage of this ecosystem, various Thai companies and industries are expected to come to Gujarat for investment, especially in Dholera SIR. The Thai Ambassador also said that she was keen to move towards an MoU to further strengthen relations with Gujarat in the field of trade and commerce. She said that about 1.5 billion US dollars were exported from Gujarat to Thailand and FDI inflows from Thailand to Gujarat in recent years amounted to 2.5 million US dollars.
The Ambassador of Thailand also extended a heartfelt invitation to CM Bhupendra Patel to visit Thailand. The Chief Minister invited the Thai delegation and Ambassador to visit the Statue of Unity. Additional Chief Secretary to the Chief Minister Pankaj Joshi, Industry Commissioner Rahul Gupta, and senior officials were present in this courtesy call meeting.
