In a joint initiative by Saurashtra University and the Municipal Arts and Commerce College of Upleta, an Eco Adventure Camp was organized. More than 120 students participated in this camp, and were guided by Dr. Meenakshi Patel from the Physical Education Department, who explained to them the importance of the initiative. The camp was organized at Osam Hill, a well-known tourist attraction 100 kms away from Rajkot.
The main aim of this initiative was to imbibe entrepreneurial qualities and the spirit of nationalism among the youth of today. Why is this Eco Adventure Camp more than just the ‘Eco’ aspect? This camp is also aimed at helping the youth develop physically, mentally and spiritually. Students are able to develop physically and mentally while also being involved with knowledge acquisition of our environment, wildlife, flora and fauna.
This ‘killing two birds with one stone’ idea is achieved via a wide range of activities such as mountain climbing, emergency landing, climbing adventure ladders, finding roots, carrying out rescue operations, night trekking, stargazing and more.
Students learn and re-learn from the various cultural and adventure programs organized at the camp, across two complete days where they are divided into batches. All students who practiced and completed the camp successfully were given certificates. A similar camp for girls will be organized between 23rd to 25th February.
