With a rather predictable end to the Gujarat State Assembly Elections this time all eyes are on the 2024 Lok Sabha Elections. However, what citizens look forward to most are the development projects announced during campaigning and whether parties keep their word now that elections are over. In this light, the construction of three bridges have been announced for the ambitious Narmada Project.
The construction work for the nation’s longest eight-lane cable bridge over Narmada river is currently underway. Ashoka Buildcon, a big name in the field of highway developers constructed an eight-lane highway that covers a section of the Vadodara-Mumbai Expressway that includes a cable-stayed bridge across Narmada. This bridge will be India’s first eight-lane extradosed bridge, which the company planned to complete within 27 months, according to the MD of Ashoka Buildcon. The construction work for this bridge was moving in full swing, later sped up due to the awaited state assembly elections.
However, the construction work for bridges to be built for double-decker goods trains and bullet trains is also underway. The unique eight-lane double dosed Delhi-Mumbai Expressway cable bridge has been completed in record time. It has been said that there 20 bridges that are still under construction across major rivers in Gujarat, which are to be completed by June 2024.
The longest bridge over the Narmada River in Gujarat for the bullet train corridor is estimated to be completed by June 2024. This 1.2 km-long bridge will be the longest in the bullet train corridor. Apart from this, National High Speed Rail Corporation Limited (NHSRCL) provided a triple performance report after which they expressed the prospect of completing the construction of 20 bridges before June 2024.
A third double-track bridge for the Delhi-Mumbai goods train is also being constructed in full swing. A double-decker goods train will run at a speed of over 100 kms over the bridge made across the Narmada river. This bridge is set to be completed before 2024.
Expressways, freight corridors and bullet train bridges are located within a radius of 2 kms over the Narmada River. Among these bridges that are being constructed, the Mumbai-Delhi Expressway is set to be operational by 2024, where vehicles will be running over a speed of 120 kms from the eight-lane double-dosed cable bridge.
Drone photographs of these three major bridges for the road, rail and bullet train projects have surfaced, showing speedy operations being carried out to complete the construction by the deadline.
