In a drive initiated by the Vadodara Traffic Police, 31 overloaded school buses, vans and rickshaws of major schools have been detained.
10 teams of RTO officers were formed who conducted surprise checking at major schools of Vadodara, wherein 3 buses, 12 auto-rickshaws and 16 eco-vans have been detained.
The road safety department instructed the schools and drivers of student transporting vehicles about road safety, interior and exterior qualities of the vehicles and gave them a final warning about it, while they will continue with regular checking of these vehicles. Parents had to drop their children to school in private vehicles due to the surprise checking.
This comes after an incident of sheer negligence took place in Ahmedabad, where 3 students in an overloaded van fell off on the road.
