According to the details, on July 8, 2020, Rajesh Bhavsar GSPCA and Wildlife SOS received the news about a family illegally keeping protected animals (Schedule 1 of Wildlife Protection Act) at home at Vansda in Navsari district. On July 13, 2020, GSPCA and Wildlife SOS along with Vansda forest team conducted a raid at Bajirao Sudhakar (42) and found one Flat Soft Shell Turtle and one baby Bonnet Macaque. He was arrested under the Wildlife Act 1972. These two rescued animals come under Schedule 1 of the Wildlife Protection Act.
The team rescued the animals comes under Schedule 1 of the Wildlife Protection Act and arrested Sudhakar under Wildlife Act 1972. Keeping these animals in the house is a non-bailable offence under the Wildlife Act,1972. The forest department has registered a case and has also taken legal action.
Rajesh Bhavsar requests people to immediately inform the nearest forest department if there is any such wildlife in your house and hand it over to the forest department. He said the real place of such animals is in the forest and keeping them in captivity is a crime.
