Under Foster Care Scheme, 2 orphan brothers find a home

On Thursday, 2 orphan brothers begin a new life with a new family. Thanks to the government’s Foster Care scheme many orphan children will soon find a family to call their own.

Samaj Suraksha Sankul, a public-private partnership of the government of Gujarat and Deepak Foundation is the first institute in Gujarat to help orphan children find a foster family. Sankul is the pioneer and the only institute in Gujarat that has successfully found foster families for orphan children who were under the care of Sankul, a residential institute for children with disabilities and children in need of care and protection.

Two brothers live and study at the institute for years without a mother or a family. They wished to have a family, parents, and a normal life like other children.

To bring happiness to their lives, the District Child Protection Unit, Vadodara has found a family who is willing to take care of the children under this Foster Care Scheme. With the collaborative efforts of the District Child Welfare Committee of Vadodara, Social Security Officer, District Child Protection Officer, and their team and Deepak Foundation team, Foster Care is provided for the second time in the state of Gujarat. Earlier, the same team had given the benefit of the first foster child care in the state.

The children were formally handed over to their new families on Thursday in the presence of Dr. Ruchiben Mehta and all the office bearers, staff, District Child Welfare Committee, District Child Protection Officer, and his team at the Social Security Complex. This was the biggest opportunity for the children and family.
