The Saurashtra Tamil Sangam program, aimed at strengthening the relationship between the Saurashtrian Tamil community and their original homeland, will be held in Gujarat from April 17 to 30 near pilgrimage sites such as Somnath and Dwarka. The event will be inaugurated on April 17 in the presence of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, who suggested the idea of organizing the program to keep the Saurashtra Tamil community connected with their roots. The Gujarat government has made a detailed plan to celebrate the event, in coordination with various ministries of the central government.
The Saurashtra Tamil community, who migrated from Saurashtra centuries ago and settled in Tamil Nadu, will come to Gujarat by train from Madurai to participate in the program. A special train will depart from Madurai to Gujarat every day from April 14 with a group of approximately 0 to 300 people.
The program includes various competitions, festivals, seminars, and other activities for the pilgrims visiting Gujarat. Participants will have the opportunity to attend mass darshan-poojan of Somnath Mahadev, witness a light and sound show, and visit other popular attractions such as the Dwarikadhish Temple, Nageshwar, Shivrajpur Beach, and the Statue of Unity. The event aims to promote the vision of one India, best India.
