Vadodara: 108 successfully provided life-saving service to 5,708 patients in November

In November, 108-Service hurried people to the hospital in a health emergency in Vadodara; 5,708 people, including 1,480 expecting women, were rushed to the hospital in a health emergency; in the last 13 years since its inception, 74,578 significant risk patients got relocated to hospitals.

As Gujarat’s Chief Minister, Prime Minister Narendrabhai Modi launched the state-wide service 108 to deliver uninterrupted life-saving health services at all hours, regardless of inconvenience. The 108 Vadodara services have done an excellent job of carrying on the heritage of this life-saving service, as seen by the service statistics for November 2021.

Nilesh Bharpoda, Program Manager of 108, Vadodara, said his team responded quickly to the calls and transported 5,708 people to hospitals, including 1,408 pregnant women. Winter’s impacts increase the prevalence of ailments such as asthma. 

  • In November, they brought 506 patients with breathing problems and 224 patients with heart problems to the hospital for treatment. 
  • 840 Vehicular Trauma patients were among those who got transported to the hospital by 108 services.

A total of 108 ambulances service over 78,000 patients daily. The 108th unit in Vadodara now has 40 ambulances with life-saving equipment. One ambulance serves an average of 78,124 people based on the population. Each vehicle covers 107 square kilometers. In a city of one lakh people, about 6 cases of health crises get recorded every day, and each service van handles 5 cases of urgent health care requirements every day.

Vadodara unit cars have a faster reaction time than the state average. The vehicle arrives at the call location in an average of 15 minutes and 05 seconds. According to Nileshbhai, initiatives are being taken to strengthen the skills of the personnel through training to cut the time as much as possible. He adds that in nearly thirteen years, the Vadodara service has saved the lives of 6,419 mothers, and newborns by doing 6,419 deliveries in the van, as per prescribed precaution.

The Vadodara Service has delivered more than 8.01 lakh people in need of health care to the hospital in the last thirteen years, with 74,578 patients in an urgent condition requiring immediate medical attention.
