Vadodara businessman cancels bungalow sale due to Disturbed Areas Act

Mahesh Palan, a businessman from Vadodara, put a stop on his bungalow after members of his society protested against it.

Samarpan Housing Complex, a posh housing society on Vasna Road, has been under the Disturbed Areas Act since 2014. Palan, a resident of the society called off the sale on his bungalow on Sunday after 80 to 90 residents protested against the deal and called it illegal. The residents claimed that Palan had secretly struck the deal without obtaining a no-objection certificate from the residents. However, to his defense, Palan stated that the buyer was known to him.

A twin-society with 170 houses, the Samarpan Housing Complex fall under Gujarat Prohibition Transfer of Immovable Property and Provision of Protection of Tenants from Eviction from Premises in Disturbed Areas Act.
