The Central GST Vadodara-II Commissionerate office has come out with an innovative way to be environmentally friendly with their initiative ‘Jal Sanchay.’
Their year-long project costing them Rs 60,000 has saved them 14.7 lakh liter of water this year which would have been otherwise wasted. The project has 9 RO systems which recycle wastewater from Reverse Osmosis (RO) water purifiers, and condensed water from Air Conditioners (ACs) and channelize into rainwater harvesting wells for groundwater replenishment.
After the successful launch of this project, a recycling project has also been introduced where PET bottles and E-waste is collected in the office premises and this waste is then recycled. The money produced from this recycling goes into manufacturing eco-friendly cloth bags that are distributed as an incentive for being environmentally friendly. Three months down the line, the officials managed 38 Kilos of PET Bottles and a good amount e-waste such as old mobile phones, keyboards, tablets, earphones, and charger among others was collected.
