Vadodara City Crime Branch arrested one interstate housebreaking burglar for theft of laptops, mobile phones, cash from the homes of students living as PGs. Tabrez alias Iqbal Khan from Haryana targetted such students through Google search and stole items from their houses. He is involved in thefts in Vadodara, Ahmedabad, Haryana, and Andhra Pradesh in the last two years.
An offense was registered in Bapod police station about the theft of four laptops, eight mobile phones, a hard disk, and hands-free from a house shared by students living as paying guests. Police began an investigation after the complaint and after accessing CCTV and other technical sources found the involvement of one Tabrez alias Iqbal Khan resident of Haryana.
The police team head by PSI RK Torani lives in disguise as a local and after confirmation arrested him. During interrogation, he revealed his involvement in burglaries along with his partner Aftab (resident of New Delhi). They also accepted their involvement in burglaries in Ahmedabad (8 to 10 times), Faridabad in Haryana, and Hyderabad in Andhra Pradesh.
As per their Modus Operandi, they Google Searched the address, area, and locations of the students living in PG and reached the city. After checking in a hotel, they did reiki in the daytime and committed burglary early in the morning at the target’s house. After that, they sold the items in Delhi and Haryana.
