On Saturday, VMC teams swung into action to check if the Covid 19 guidelines are being followed by the shopkeepers and others in various parts of the city. Some of the shops were sealed by the team which was not following the guidelines and a strict message was send to everyone. The team checked the different areas of the city that are known for crowding.
According to Dr. Vinod Rao, Officer on Special Duty and Education Secretary, for three days the Eva Mall in the Manjalpur area has been sealed as disciplinary action by special teams for violating the Covid guideline. The flying squad also sealed Reliance Smart supermarket in the Harni area. The teams have taken disciplinary action against Gorwa vegetable market, areas of ward no. 5 and 9 as well as gift item shop in Karelibaug, pan, cold drink shop, doormat shop, and others.
Mangal bazar has also been closed by the VMC.
The next 15 days are very crucial for preventing the spread of Covid infection, as informed by the District Collector Shalini Agarwal. She further said that a joint meeting held on Friday in this regard has formulated a strategy for the city district. Accordingly, the rules will be followed strictly including observing masks and social distance in the rural areas.
Not only this but efforts will be made to increase public awareness in this matter and to cultivate self-discipline in its observance. She has requested that people should cooperate by following these rules as they are made in the interest of their health.
