Vadodara pays tribute to the martyred soldiers of the Pulwama attack

The people of Vadodara paid a heartfelt tribute to the jawans who were martyred in the Pulwama attack with candlelight vigils, condolence meetings, and protest marches.

Instead of the DJ party MSU Student Union had organized on Friday, the student union instead decided to keep a prayer union. Events planned across the day by other faculties were all canceled. The MSU organised Sunburn concert for today was also canceled. The Faculty of Management Studies held a condolence meet while the Faculty of Family and Community Sciences organised a candlelight vigil. Students of MSU Arts burnt an effigy and shouted anti-terrorist slogans. MSU officials condemned the attack and called it cowardly.

Activities for college fests which were going to be held in Parul and SVIT colleges were canceled and candlelight vigils.

Young students from the Faculty of Science staged a procession at 11 am in protest of the Pulwama attack.

Also, the citizens of Vadodara paid tribute in many ways. Instead of the usual singing and dancing involved in a wedding procession, the Kapadia family held a wedding procession with a difference. Patriotic songs were played and the people in the wedding procession observed a 2-minute vow of silence in respect for the martyred jawans when the procession started from Iskon Mandir to ML Party plot in Gotri.

At Tandalja road, an effigy was burnt to protest the martyred soldiers, Bajrang dal workers burnt the Pakistan flag at Dairy Den circle, while Congress workers paid homage near Lal bag. Citizens of the old city area paid homage at Gandhinagar Gruh.

Purva Sainik Seva Parishad Vadodara Chintan Parikh organized an event to give homage to the jawans that near the Subhash Chandra Bose where Nayanbhai Joshi condemned the attacks. Traders market Hati khana remained closed on Friday, and the traders market is still closed today to join in the protest.
