Vadodara police arrests convict in Khusbu Jani murder case

Jay Vyas, a resident of Chansad village has been found guilty and arrested by the police for the murder of Khusbu Jani.

On 15th Dec’19, Padra police recovered the body of the 20-year-old MSU student Khusbu Jani, wrapped in a plastic bag, from a lake near Chansad village.

The police has successfully arrested the convict, Jay Vyas, who alone carried out the murder of young Jani. According to the police, Vyas was Jani’s sworn (Rakhi) brother. Vyas had called her home for some work when he tried to sexually assault her to which she resisted. Furious and scared about Jani complaining against him, Vyas allegedly murdered with a hammer and an axe. The 5 ft tall victim was wrapped in a blanket bundle that was not larger than 2.5 ft. Vyas later took the body to the lake at around 2 pm and drowned it. He returned to the lake the next morning with a wood log and tied it to the floating body to make it sink to the bottom of the lake.

The convict was arrested after the villagers complained about a missing DVR from the village temple. Coincidentally, Vyas was caught on a CCTV footage of the village’s temple stealing the same DVR. Hence, with help of dog squad and special teams, the police were able to track down the culprit.
