Vadodara police busts Devipujak gang involved in 25 crimes

Detection of crime branch (DCB) police officers arrested the Devipujak gang that has been involved in 25 major crimes in many districts across the state.

On Saturday, the police acted on a tip and intercepted four members of the Devipujak gang in an auto on Bhimnath bridge after they were on their way commit another crime.

The accused have been identified as Jadish Somnath, a resident of Kheda, Karan Solanki from Surat, Mukesh Solanki and Hitesh Chudasama from Gir-Somnath.

The gang used to rob passengers who used to sit in their autorickshaw. One member used to drive the auto, while the other three used to sit behind in share auto. The gang used to target the elderly and women passengers, whose belongings would be stealthily looted when they were in the autorickshaw.

The gang has been involved in other crimes including pickpocketing in Ahmedabad, Surat, Nadiad, Kheda, and Anand.
