Vadodara Police turn Guardian Angels for an 8 year old

Most times, orphaned and destitute children are found sleeping without a roof or begging for a single time’s meal without getting the exposure to education ever.

Last year in January, a man strangled his wife to death in a locality of Vadodara over a bitter dispute about the husband selling off the couple’s house allotted under government’s low-cost housing scheme. The murderous husband slept in the same room as the corpse of his dead wife for an entire night before reporting to the police that his wife had died.

In this entire incident, a young boy lost his mother without knowing that his father, the sole support system, had strangulated her.

Almost 18 months later, a devastating knock on the door by the Vadodara Police, changed the young boy’s life forever. The police had come to arrest the father of the boy, for the 18-month old murder of his own wife. However, the grief-stricken young boy was left guardian-less as his only support system was being put behind bars for a grievous crime.

A heartwarming decision by the cops changed the fate of the 8 year old. Despite losing his parents, the boy was not to live a destitute life. ACP S G Patil and his staff of Zone 3 police office in Panigate decided to become a guardians for this young boy. This humanitarian gesture of the Vadodara Police has left the boy the Police ready to become to become his caretaker till he grows up.

The cops felt deeply for the innocent boy who was almost going to be left homeless after his aunt refused to take him in, hence they temporarily gave him a new home in zone 3 police station where he has a separate room with bed. The police are in talks with senior judges of juvenile cases for the future of this young boy. More so, a lot of NGOs, activists and children homes have approached the police to help the child.

ACP Patil said in an interaction with Our Vadodara that the boy is full of life with a zeal to complete his education, hence, he will be sent to his government school under police protection. The boy is garnered with love from everyone posted at the station, with everyone bringing him chocolates, fruits and playing games with him.
