Vadodara: SHE Team on a mission to apprehend individuals engaging in eve-teasing

The SHE Team in Vadodara is conducting a massive sweep around the city to apprehend who is eve-teasing and making obscene gestures to women passing by near schools, bus stops, and hostels. Following an operation by the SHE Team members, the team apprehended roughly five such suspects and sent a clear and powerful message to them.

On the 16th of December, the SHE Team arrested two individuals for eve-teasing at Vitcos bus stop near MSU while patrolling. WPC Pooja Babulal and WLRD Jagruti Bharatbhai, set up as civilians, caught Anil Jingar and Jafarali Khan making obscene gestures toward passing girls. Both were charged under the GP Act 110,117.

In Vadodara, a massive operation was launched to safeguard the safety and security of women. Teasing, chasing, making obscene comments, gestures, playing obscene songs, flirting with ladies and girls are all things that police keep an eye on at gardens, bus stops, railway stations, near societies, and Pan Gallas. Individuals who got caught behaving outrageously in public are now facing legal action.

“This is a routine part of the She Team, but on the police commissioner’s orders, we’re conducting a citywide sweep and have captured such individuals sitting at various locations and engaging in eve-teasing. Our teams begin by inspecting sites notorious for such instances, such as schools, hostels, tuition classes, and bus stops. The members then dressed up as a decoy and caught such suspects eve-teasing and making obscene gestures to passing girls. Three SHE teams got stationed at each of the city’s police stations, with two patrols on Bolero and one on Jupiter. The teams ensure that women, senior persons, and girls are in a secure and safe environment,” according to ACP Amita Vanani Nodal Officer, SHE Team.
