Vadodara Social Forestry Dept is a home for variety of birds and butterflies

Vadodara Social forestry department is home to colorful birds and butterflies which increases the beauty of the place.

Butterflies species like Yellow Pansy, Black King, Grass Yellow, Common Lime, Common Rose, Common Pirate, Common Crow, Forget Me Not, Evening Brown, Danoid Egg Fly, Cupid and many species of birds have made their home here and its a perfect place for people to watch the beauty of nature.

Nidhi Dave, Range Forest Officer, Social Forestry Department, said that these beautiful and delicate butterflies make the nursery behind Sayajibaug and in front of Bal Bhavan i.e. Rope Breeding Center as their home. This year more than two lakh seedlings of different species have been raised in Vadodara and have been provided for planting and rearing to people.

Not only the butterflies but also the birds of different species like the male and female cuckoo, hornbill, red-tailed bulbul, parrot, woodpecker, bee-eater, golden oriole, Maina babbler, and Blackish Silky Sun Bird also live at the same place.

Nidhi Dave said that they have planted fruit flower plants/trees like Jasud, Aparajita, Ekzora, Billy, Sweet Neem, Nagod, Lemon, and other trees to enhance the beauty of the place. It has all the conveniences like vines, plants, and oak trees.  Under the guidance of Kartik Maharaja, Deputy Conservator of Forests, Department of Social Forestry, and Mr. Rajguru, Assistant Conservator of Forests, this bird and butterfly garden is maintained carefully.
