Vadodara: Twin brothers attempted to kill themselves post an entrance exam result

On Monday evening, twin brothers locked themselves in their study room and attempted to kill themselves, resulting in the death of one and the hospitalisation of the other. They are claimed to be depressed and took such drastic action inside their home in the city’s New Alkapuri neighbourhood. The case was reported to the police in Laxmipura and investigated further.

According to available information, Rajesh Patel lives with his wife and twin sons in the Shantanu Apartment, which falls under the jurisdiction of the Laxmipura police station in the city’s New Alkapuri neighbourhood. Rajesh Patel and his wife work as teachers in the District Primary School, Anand. Their twin sons attempted to kill themselves in their study room on Monday evening.

The parents got taken aback when they returned home late from work to find their two sons hanging in their study room. After hearing their cries, the residents reached the site. Immediately, both were transported to a private hospital, where one got pronounced dead, and the other is undergoing treatment.

Following the information, Laxmipura police Sub Inspector R.K. Gosai raced to the scene with his team and began an inquiry. Both boys are in XIIth class, science stream, at a private school in Karelibaug and have been reported to be under depression since returning home from the NEET exam.

According to PSI R.K. Gosai, the two brothers attempted killing themselves after coming under depression due to the exam results. 

However, following an investigation, the real cause of the twin brother’s suicide will get revealed. A case has been filed at the Laxmipura police station, and an investigation is underway.

In Vadodara, in contrast, there has been a considerable surge in student suicides in the previous 15 days, causing concern among parents.
