VMSS relocating cattle around the city aims for a cattle-free city

Vadodara Corporation’s first step towards relocating cattle keepers as part of the cattle-free city by identifying a lakh-foot open space near Khatamba cattle pond started fencing and leveling work.

The Vadodara Mahanagar Seva Sadan (VMSS) has chosen one lakh-foot open land at Khatamba, a first step toward transferring cattle keepers in Vadodara as part of the livestock-free program. The corporation can shift around 1500 cattle permanently to this new facility.

On Tuesday, Mayor Keyur Rokadia and MP Ranjan Bhatt visited the site to inspect the fencing and leveling work and provide the officials with crucial instructions.

As part of their strategy, the VMSS crew continued collecting and relocating roaming cattle on city streets. They’re also attempting to obtain new open land to permanently relocate the animals and assist the city in becoming cattle-free.

“We are here to review the Khatamba cattle pond and also the leveling and fencing of one lakh foot open space nearby. With this, we can shift around 1500 cattle permanently soon. Secondly, we call the cattle keepers of nearby areas. After the meeting, we will ask them to shift here and take care of their animals by making sheds on their own and doing business. The corporation will provide water, lighting, and fencing services. In the coming days, our goal is to clear the surrounding lands of cattle for good.” said Keyur Rokadia.
