The Covid-19 epidemic is creating havoc all over the world, including the city of Vadodara. Entering the second phase of Covid-19, a night curfew has been ordered in the major cities of Gujarat to curb the transmission of the virus. The government has also issued strict orders to follow the guidelines.
But, the violation of the Covid 19 guideline has become a topic of discussion for the last few days. In such a challenging situation the leaders of Vadodara city are clearly seen violating the rules. In a recent case, a non-bailable offense was registered against former MoS Kantibhai Gamit, his son, and 16 others arrested under IPC Section 308 for an attempt to culpable homicide was added to FIR. Inspector and Jamadar have been suspended. An intensive patrolling was ordered for prevention and SP Usha Rada was assigned an inquiry report to be submitted by her in a week.
All this happened just a few days back and today a video of a similar breach of Covid protocols went viral. Former Mayor and City’s BJP General Secretary, Sunil Solanki has been caught on camera flouting the rules on the occasion of his birthday celebrations in Vadodara. Photos and videos of his birthday celebrations are circulating on social media where he was clearly seen cutting the cake with supporters without wearing masks. Even Sunil Solanki himself was without a mask. In this regard, City’s BJP President, Dr. Vijay Shah tweeted urging the workers to follow the rules.
When asked to comment, Sunil Solanki shifted the onus on the BJP workers. He also mentioned that no Minister or leader is above the law.
The question now is whether the BJP will take disciplinary action against the General Secretary.
